2019 Acura ILX AWD

Though the 2019 Acura ILX is only available in front-wheel drive, there are plenty of Acura models that offer AWD either standard or with an upgrade. These new and used models including the Acura RDX, TLX, MDX, and RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD, all provide an upgraded AWD system that will help you handle the Costa Mesa roads. What is SH-AWD®?

SH-AWD®, or Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™, is the all-wheel drive system available in models like the RDX. What this system does is it boosts the performance of the model and provides smoother handling for your Tustin commute by distributing weight evenly, giving you better traction, and using driver input to better your performance. This system also:

• Determines the power distribution between the front and rear wheels based on wheel speed, angle, and yaw rate.
• Improves fuel economy by sending up to 90% of power to the front wheels when it senses the vehicle is cruising in a straight line.
• Helps the driver gain more traction by shifting weight toward the rear wheels when accelerating.
• Sends 70% of torque to the rear wheels and applies it exclusively to the outside wheel as weight is shifted when accelerating on a curve.
• Revolves the outside rear wheel faster than the others to help the vehicle through a turn, increasing stability.
