Canyon Rim Park Trail Head

This trail offers great views of the city and the Walnut Canyon Reservoir, and it leads directly to the Oak Canyon Nature Center. We recommend it for families. There’s a bathroom and water fountain at the head of the trail, and the Nature Center has plenty of exhibits to explore, making the Canyon Rim Park trail particularly accessible.

Yorba Regional Park Trailhead

The 131-acre Yorba Regional Park is one of the most gorgeous parks in the area, and it’s most popular trail leads hikers down the Santa Ana River. With playgrounds and a lake, there’s plenty to do here.

Oak Canyon Nature Center

We mentioned one of the nature center’s trails, Canyon Rim, already, but what we didn’t mention is that this 58-acre park in the Anaheim Hills features 4 miles of trails across 3 adjoining canyons. With some of the last remaining oak woodland and coastal sage scrub in the region, views of downtown from canyon plateaus, and a fun nature museum, it comes highly recommended!

Santiago Oaks Regional Park

This 1,269-acre park in northern Orange Country features numerous biker, equestrian and hiker trails, all of which meander across foothills and provide views of distant mountains. With an orange grove, a creek, and a mature forest with dozens of tree species, we like these trails for their quickly changing scenery.
